Refraction

Refraction

A Headspace Project, 03

I feel more fragmented than whole,
Pulled apart by different iterations of myself,
A self-affliction that takes a toll,
Plaguing the mind and preying on the heart,
Conflicted.

Vocation leads one way,
But circumstances pull me another,
Faith attempts to endure,
Yet my soul begs to doubt, stubborn,
Thoughts turn to compromise,
While passions secretly burn,
Quietly simmer and yearn,
Dissonant.

Fragmented selves refract,
Portraying only a distorted soul,
Individual perceptions diffract,
Revealing individual hues but never whole,
Hues of purple dance between reds and blues,
Momentarily converging,
Eventually diverging,
Dispersion.

Self-refractions wear heavily on my soul,
Slowly dissolving conscience into dissonance,
I am more fragmented than whole,
Defined by contradictions and divisive afflictions,
Refraction.
